St Thomas Medical Group was set up in 1969, and has grown to become the largest General Practice in Exeter with around 41,000 patients – approximately 20% of its population.
Our largest site is St Thomas Health Centre. The building is home to the District Nursing Team and the Complex Care Team. Clinics are also held by Midwives, members of the Community Mental Health Team and Community Physiotherapists. We also have GP registrars (training) working with us. We have a branch site at Exwick, and we run the Student Health Centre on the University of Exeter campus.
We are proud to have achieved an OUTSTANDING rating from the CQC, and have won various awards in 2018.These include a prize for ‘Innovation in models of healthcare in the South West’ following our recruitment of a full-time paramedic, and ‘Southwest Nursing Team of the Year’ for our nurses at the University Health Centre.
We deliver all services expected of NHS Primary Care, and specialise in Headache and Vasectomy services for the surrounding area.
